The South View Tigers's game on Friday was all tied up 28-28 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 70-55 bruising from Lumberton. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the loss, South View saw an underclassman step up: Jakari Jordan scored ten points along with six blocks. Chase Evans was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Dimetrious Jones was his usual excellent self, going 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 27 points and 4 assists for Lumberton. Jones has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaiden Shephard, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds.
South View's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-9. As for Lumberton, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South View will take on the Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Purnell Swett is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Lumberton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
