Baseball Recap: West Side Has No Trouble Against Crowley's Ridge Academy

West Side had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against the Crowley's Ridge Academy Falcons on Thursday as they made off with a 19-4 victory. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Ty Hewitt made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs and one RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Max Gipson and Brooks Hipp did most of the damage at the plate: Gipson went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base, while Hipp went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, four runs, and one double. Hipp has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last 11 times he's played. Dylan Strain was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

West Side kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive games.

West Side's record now sits at 22-5. As for Crowley's Ridge Academy, they dropped their record down to 0-8 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

West Side didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 4-3 loss against Hillcrest on the 9th. Crowley's Ridge Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
