Tri never got on the board in their matchup on Thursday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Morristown on Saturday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Yellow Jackets a 13-0 shutout. The Titans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by seven runs or more this season.
Tri let Keirra Mettert and Lyla Williams run wild. Mettert went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run, while Williams went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those four RBI gave Mettert a new career-high. Becca Sherwood was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Tri always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Morristown only posted an OBP of .333.
Tri's record is now 12-3. As for Winchester Community, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Winchester Community has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .468. However, it's not like Tri struggles in that department as they've averaged .488. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Winchester Community suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Tri when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Golden Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
