The Ardrey Kell Knights won the last time they faced the Weddington Warriors, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Ardrey Kell walked away with a 58-49 victory over Weddington. Given Ardrey Kell's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while Weddington is ranked 154th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ardrey Kell's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Molly Burns, who scored 24 points along with 7 rebounds and 6 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Burns has scored at least 25% of Ardrey Kell's points. Autumn Washington was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bailey Page, who scored 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Motto, who scored 12 points.
The victory makes it two in a row for Ardrey Kell and bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for Weddington, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Ardrey Kell will head out on the road to face off against Providence Day at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Providence Day focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Wednesday. As for Weddington, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Parkwood at 6:30 p.m.
