The Cape Fear Colts suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They suffered a rough 66-45 defeat at the hands of South View. Cape Fear was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as South View apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Cape Fear's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bryce West, who scored 12 points along with four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points West has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Geronimo Sanchez, who scored five points.
South View can attribute much of their success to Antrell Gilmore, who scored 16 points along with six steals. Chase Evans was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Cape Fear and nudges their season record down to 4-8. As for South View, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.
Cape Fear will head out on the road to challenge Gray's Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Gray's Creek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday. As for South View, they will be playing at home against Jack Britt at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Jack Britt is ranked 285th, while South View is ranked 279th).
