The Valor Christian Eagles will challenge the Bear Creek Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Valor Christian has four straight victories, Bear Creek has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Valor Christian barely beat Columbine the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles put the hurt on the Rebels with a sharp 15-4 win on Tuesday. That 11 run margin sets a new team best for the Eagles this season.
Trystan Chadwick made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Valor Christian is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-8 otherwise. Chadwick was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two runs.
In other pitching news, Valor Christian got a great performance from Brigham Brown as he struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits.

Back at the plate, Travis Kenz was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Max Matteucci, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
Valor Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .432. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Columbine only posted a batting average of .214.
Meanwhile, Bear Creek fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Chatfield on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Chargers by a score of 6-5. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Josh Nelson and Matt Hegerle stepped up to the plate in a big way. Nelson went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Hegerle went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Radford, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.
Valor Christian's victory bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Bear Creek, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.
Valor Christian took their win against Bear Creek in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 8-1 score. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bears turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
