The Columbus Christian Crusaders had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 55-35 margin over Cannelton. That's another feather in the cap for Columbus Christian, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Columbus Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Peyton Walden led the charge by scoring 14 points along with nine rebounds. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Walden has scored at least 25% of Columbus Christian's points. Cam Pritchard was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Columbus Christian pushed their record up to 8-6 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Cannelton, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Columbus Christian will face off against Traders Point Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Traders Point Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 back in December of 2023. As for Cannelton, they will head out on the road to face off against Frederick Fraize at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Frederick Fraize is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
