Basketball Game Preview: St. Stephen's & St. Agnes Saints vs. St. Albans Bulldogs

St. Stephen's & St. Agnes is 10-0 against St. Albans since February of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The St. Stephen's & St. Agnes Saints will host the St. Albans Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. St. Stephen's & St. Agnes is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.

On Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, St. Stephen's & St. Agnes beat Landon 59-53. Given the Saints' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 11th in Virginia, while the Bears are ranked 65th in Maryland), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

St. Stephen's & St. Agnes' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Riley Jacobs, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 boards. The match was Jacobs' sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Hancock, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 17 points.

St. Stephen's & St. Agnes smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, St. Albans played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against Georgetown Prep, falling 81-56. The loss continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Little Hoyas: they've now lost eight in a row.

St. Stephen's & St. Agnes' win bumped their record up to 13-2. As for St. Albans, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.

St. Stephen's & St. Agnes didn't have too much breathing room in their match against St. Albans in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 76-72 victory. Will St. Stephen's & St. Agnes repeat their success, or does St. Albans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
