Softball Recap: Leakey Extends Home Winning Streak to Six

There's no place like home for Leakey, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Knippa Crushers an 11-0 shutout on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won 12 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Lexie Pendley was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Angela Lopez was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases.

Leakey hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 9-3 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Leakey's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-13-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games. As for Knippa, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-18.

Leakey will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Crushers: the pair will be back at it again later today.
