Basketball Recap: Ohatchee's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

It was a good run, but Ohatchee unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. Their2024 ended with a 57-39 defeat against the Central of Clay County Volunteers. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 244th, while the Volunteers are ranked 90th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Central of Clay County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brandi Searcy, who posted ten points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Zy?Keria Heflin, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.

Ohatchee's loss dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Central of Clay County, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-3.

Ohatchee didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 46-33 victory against Piedmont on the 2nd. As for Central of Clay County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 44-38 defeat against Handley on the 3rd.
