The Ralston Rams pushed their score all the way to 57 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to McCook 61-57.
When it comes to explaining why Ralston lost, one person who can't be blamed is Deacon Courtney. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 23 points and 15 rebounds. The contest was Courtney's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Davinchi Gray was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with four steals.
Ralston has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season. As for McCook, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ralston will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Bennington at 5:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024. The timing is sure in Bennington's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Ralston has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season. As for McCook, they will face off against Broken Bow at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Broken Bow is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.
