Softball Recap: West Babylon Has No Trouble Against Islip

West Babylon had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Islip on Saturday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Buccaneers with a sharp 9-2 win. The Eagles not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 24, 2024 (when they won 10-3).

Kayleigh Carlson tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits.

At the plate, Storm Romano and Giovanna Miranda did most of the damage at the plate: Romano went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Miranda went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Eliza Tymann, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs.

West Babylon's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Islip, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4-1.

West Babylon will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Walt Whitman at 10:00 p.m. on May 3. As for Islip, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 11-2 defeat against Miller Place on the 21st.
