Maxwell and Stapleton are both heading into their Friday contest this week after losing their previous games. Maxwell has to be hurting after a devastating 66 - 45 loss at the hands of Eustis-Farnam last week. As for Stapleton, it had a rough outing against Anselmo-Merna last week, losing 82 - 26.
Maxwell's game was close at the break (38 - 31), but Eustis-Farnam took charge in the second half. Junior quarterback Will Huffman rushed for an impressive 314 yards but couldn't carry the team alone. The loss dropped Maxwell's record to 1-3.
With the halftime score sitting at 60 - 8, Stapleton just had too much of a disadvantage to overcome. One major problem for it was yardage: Stapleton's 228 total yards paled in comparison to Anselmo-Merna's 490. The loss brought Stapleton down to 1-4.
Both it and Maxwell have been struggling on the defensive side of the ball (the former allowing an average of 53 points per game, the latter an average of 40.25 points per game). We'll find out which offense can take advantage of this fact when the two teams meet this week.
