Compass Academy has gone 8-2 against Coahoma recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Cougars will face off against the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Coahoma will be up against a hot Compass Academy squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Brownfield on Saturday.
While Compass Academy won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-16, 26-24.
Compass Academy can attribute much of their success to Sareyah Hinojoz, who had ten digs and one assist, and Ellie Molinar, who had 21 digs and two aces. What's more, Molinar racked up six assists, the most she's had since back in October of 2024.
Coahoma won the last time they faced Crane and Bree Lewis did her part to make sure it happened again. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Cranes with a sharp 3-0 win on Saturday for which the team can thank Lewis, who had 12 kills, eight digs, and two blocks. She is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had five or more in each of the last 31 games she's played.
Coahoma got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-17, 31-29.
Compass Academy better focus on containing Gabby Cox and Madi Renteria as the pair were huge in Coahoma's win. Cox had seven digs, four aces, and one block, while Renteria had eight kills, four blocks, and three digs. Another player making a difference was Andrea Arrendondo, who had five aces and four digs.
Compass Academy's record now sits at 24-10. As for Coahoma, their record is now 24-11-1.
