The Ursuline Academy Lions will face off against the St. Henry Crusaders at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ursuline Academy will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
On Thursday, Ursuline Academy made easy work of Mercy McAuley and carried off a 3-0 victory.
Ursuline Academy's got stronger as the match went on, holding Mercy McAuley to fewer and fewer points set over set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-18, 25-14.
Ursuline Academy's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Madison Moine, who had 15 digs, and Mackenzie Higgins, who had six digs and two assists.
Meanwhile, St. Henry faced Ryle in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Crusaders fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 3-2. Crusaders fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Raiders since Wednesday.
St. Henry actually scored more points across those five sets (102-93), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 21-25, 25-21, 25-23, 7-25, 15-8.
St. Henry dropped their record down to 19-11 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Ursuline Academy, their win bumped their record up to 14-6.
Ursuline Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against St. Henry in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Crusaders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
