Make it four blowout wins for the Piper Pirates this season. They were the clear victor by a 78-54 margin over Andover Central. Given Piper's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while Andover Central is ranked 121st), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Andover Central lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jace Adler. Despite the final result, he scored 18 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Adler has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddox Archibald, who scored ten points along with three steals.
The win was the sixth in a row for Piper, bringing their record for this year to 8-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.2 points per game. As for Andover Central, their loss dropped their record down to 4-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Piper will take on Shawnee Mission South on Friday. Shawnee Mission South is on a three-game streak of home wins, Piper a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Andover Central, they will head out on the road to take on Chanute at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
