After a string of three wins, the McBee Panthers's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 45-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cheraw. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as McBee came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while Cheraw is ranked 241st).
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jakari Holloman, who scored 18 points along with 5 assists and 5 steals. The matchup was Holloman's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Hayden Griggs was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 9 rebounds.
McBee's loss dropped their record down to 3-1. As for Cheraw, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-6.
McBee will be playing in front of their home fans against Trinity Collegiate at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Trinity Collegiate has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 205 points over their last three matchups. As for Cheraw, they will head out on the road to face off against Marlboro County at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
