The Summit Tigers will venture away from home to take on the Salida Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Salida took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Summit, who comes in off a win.
Summit will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Thursday, then bounced right back against Frederick on Saturday. The Tigers blew past the Golden Eagles 12-1. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Tigers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Jayce Rainey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Rainey was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hogan Tobias, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Matty Misch, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Summit kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Frederick only managed three.
Meanwhile, Salida was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Woodland Park, falling 10-0.
Salida saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryus Mattix, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. That stolen base marked the first that Mattix has snagged this season.
Salida's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Summit, their record now sits at 2-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Summit has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Salida struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Summit's way against Salida in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, as Summit made off with an 8-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
