Baseball Recap: David Anderson Has No Trouble Against Wellsville

David Anderson won the last time they faced Wellsville and things went their way on Monday too. The Blue Devils blew past the Tigers 16-2. Considering the Blue Devils have won five matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Mason Jones was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Ashton Hinchliffe was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Lively, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three RBI and one run.

David Anderson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

David Anderson is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Wellsville, they dropped their record down to 2-13 with the defeat, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Wellsville will venture away from home to challenge Chaney at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. David Anderson will be paying especially close attention to the Tigers' game: after the Tigers face off against the Cowboys, they'll take on David Anderson again at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
