Oswayo Valley is 1-9 against Smethport since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Oswayo Valley Green Wave will head out on the road to challenge the Smethport Hubbers at 7:30 p.m. Oswayo Valley has now lost 11 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 4.
Oswayo Valley suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Monday. They were outmatched by Otto-Eldred at home and fell 85-25. While losing is never fun, Oswayo Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 728th, while Otto-Eldred is ranked 160th).
Despite the loss, Oswayo Valley got a solid performance out of Connor Resig, who scored seven points.
Meanwhile, Smethport's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They fell 54-41 to Port Allegany.
Oswayo Valley's loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-11. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.4 points per game. As for Smethport, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Oswayo Valley against Smethport in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 60-30 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Oswayo Valley since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
