The Montcalm Generals's three-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They walked away with a 44-37 victory over Richwood. The victory was just what Montcalm needed coming off of a 73-29 defeat in their prior match.
Richwood's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Christian Griffith, who scored ten points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Griffith has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Barnhouse, who scored 11 points.
Montcalm's victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 6-5. As for Richwood, they dropped their record down to 1-11 with that loss, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Montcalm will face off against River View at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. River View knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matches -- so hopefully Montcalm likes a good challenge. As for Richwood, they will head out on the road to face off against Highland at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Highland will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 374th in Virginia, while Richwood is ranked 122nd in West Virginia).
