It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Roy/Mosquero Longhorn had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They breezed by Animas at home to the tune of 57-6. The victory was just business as usual for Roy/Mosquero, who after ten games remain undefeated this season.
Brycen Barnes continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 186 yards and five touchdowns on only 13 carries. Barnes has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jackson Fudge , who picked up 79 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Roy/Mosquero's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-7 Carrizozo and 2-6 Floyd (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 34.7% over those games). As for Animas, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
Roy/Mosquero will look to defend their home field on Friday against Grady at 6:00 p.m. Grady is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Animas does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
