It was fun while it lasted, but Serra Catholic's undefeated season came to an end after seven games on Tuesday. They were beaten by the South Allegheny Gladiators 81-53. The game marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Serra Catholic lost, don't look at Tyler Sapida. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine boards. Those 24 points gave Sapida a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Owen Dumbroski, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.

Having lost for the first time this season, Serra Catholic fell to 7-1. As for South Allegheny, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Serra Catholic (ranked 49th) will meet Geibel Catholic (ranked 245th) at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Serra Catholic is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 72.4 points per game this season. Similarly, South Allegheny (ranked 26th) will meet Shady Side Academy (ranked 252nd) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
