John F. Kennedy hasn't had much luck against Cuero recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The John F. Kennedy Rockets are taking a road trip to square off against the Cuero Gobblers at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
John F. Kennedy took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Gonzales, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. John F. Kennedy narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Gonzales 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rockets.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cuero). Their pitcher stepped up to hand San Antonio Memorial a 21-0 shutout on Friday. The Gobblers haven't had any issues with the Minutemen recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Natalie Taylor made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Those two hits allowed gave her a new career-low. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI. Those triples marked the first that she hit this season.
In other batting news, Julianna Cox and Audrey Kremling did most of the damage at the plate: Cox went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs, while Kremling went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three RBI, and two runs. Cox has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. Kendal Broll was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Cuero always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .759. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.
Cuero pushed their record up to 11-4-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for John F. Kennedy, their record now sits at 4-5.
John F. Kennedy suffered a grim 19-0 defeat to Cuero when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can John F. Kennedy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
