Hannah Wright spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Male saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aubrey Miller, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.
Male hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Great Crossing struck out nine times.
Meanwhile, Woodford County made easy work of Western Hills on Monday and carried off a 13-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Yellowjackets, who have now won ten matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Jillian Watson and Addie Bryant did most of the damage at the plate: Watson went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, one run, and one double, while Bryant went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave Watson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Norah Ashburn, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Woodford County's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-12-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Male, their victory bumped their record up to 23-8.
Male came up short against Woodford County in their previous matchup back in April of 2023, falling 6-1. Will the Bulldogs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
