The Knightdale Knights pushed their score all the way to 68 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 80-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sanderson. Knightdale has struggled against Sanderson recently, as their match on Tuesday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Knightdale lost, one person who can't be blamed is Khalel Sanders. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for him. Jason Dickerson was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Even though they lost, Knightdale were working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sanderson only racked up 12 assists.
Nathan Fife continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Sanderson, scoring 24 points along with five assists and four steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Fife has scored at least 25% of Sanderson's points. Another player making a difference was Patrick Dalton, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds.
Knightdale's loss dropped their record down to 8-3. As for Sanderson, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Knightdale will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Enloe at 7:45 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Sanderson and Green Hope will round out the year against one another at 4:00 p.m. on December 28th at. Green Hope is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
