Even though the Unity Reed Lions scored an imposing 64 points on Thursday, the Park View Patriots still came out on top. Park View walked away with a 73-64 win over Unity Reed. The win made it back-to-back wins for Park View.
Park View's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jonathan Nicola, who scored 29 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Nicola has scored at least 25% of Park View's points. Another player making a difference was Messiah Dixon, who scored 23 points.
Russell Robinson and Peyton Powell certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Robinson scored 23 points, while Powell dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds. The contest was Robinson's third in a row with at least ten points. Evan Buvka was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds.
Park View pushed their record up to 5-5 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.8 points per game. As for Unity Reed, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Park View will stay at home for another game and welcome Broad Run at 7:15 p.m. on January 9th. Unity Reed won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Patriot at 7:00 p.m. on January 5th. Patriot knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven games -- so hopefully Unity Reed likes a good challenge.
