The Merino Rams are on the road again on Saturday and play against the Simla Cubs at 1:00 p.m. on November 11th. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
With a playoff game on the line, Merino rose to the challenge on Saturday. They managed a 16-12 win over McClave.
Meanwhile, Simla put the finishing touches on their tenth blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They blew past Front Range Christian 42-0 at home. The win was just business as usual for Simla, who after ten games remain undefeated this season.
Simla got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was TJ Eurich out in front who rushed for 155 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries. Eurich was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 51 yards. Another player making a difference was Caston Cox, who rushed for 58 yards and a touchdown.
Another reason for the win was Simla's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for eight sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Brent Bowker and Treven Kocerha who racked up 4.5 sacks between them.
Merino has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season. As for Simla, they have yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 10-0 record.
Merino strolled past Simla when the teams last played back in September of 2015 by a score of 20-6. Will Merino repeat their success, or does Simla have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
