New Fairfield and Masuk are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Rebels will head out to face off against the Panthers at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
While New Fairfield's win against Pomperaug wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Rebels won by a run and slipped past the Panthers 8-7. The Rebels haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Brendan Gaska tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up five earned runs off seven hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Andrew Dossena was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs. Law Roccamo was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Masuk owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Stratford, sneaking past 1-0. The win was familiar territory for the Panthers, who have now won four games in a row.
Masuk also got a great performance from Justin Fanning as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over 6.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Fanning has posted since back in May of 2024.
At the plate, Masuk's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Chris Welch, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
The win got New Fairfield back to even at 5-5. As for Masuk, their record now sits at 5-3.
Everything went New Fairfield's way against Masuk in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as New Fairfield made off with a 13-4 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rebels since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
