Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mize). They put the hurt on the North Forrest Eagles with a sharp 23-1 win on Tuesday. Considering the Bulldogs have won ten games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Trey Myers made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with five RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February of 2024.
In other batting news, Parker Himmel and Garrison Carrell did most of the damage at the plate: Himmel scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Carrell went a perfect 5-for-5 with three RBI and two doubles. That's the most doubles Carrell has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Graham Davis, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Mize always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .705. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Forrest only posted an OBP of .435.
Mize has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for North Forrest, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 12-6.
Mize will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Eagles: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
