After flying high against Wyalusing Valley  last Tuesday, Athens came back down to earth. The Athens Wildcats took  a  57-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wellsboro Hornets on Thursday. The Wildcats have struggled against the Hornets recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
 Athens' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was   Jase Babcock, who  went 5 for 11  on his way to 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of  Lucas Shultz, who  posted nine  points.
Athens' defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Wellsboro, the  win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-5.
 Athens will challenge Canton at 7:15  p.m.  on Wednesday. Wellsboro has  already played their next  game (against Hughesville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
