Coalfield A recap Sept. 26, 2012
Meadow Bridge extended the longest winning streak in Coalfield A this week by beating Pendleton County, 34-24. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Wildcats.
Shady Spring was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fifth in the league. Earlier in the week, the Tigers defeated PikeView 56-30.
Meadow Bridge's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Shane Harless threw for 37 and one touchdown and Cody White had 37 yards receiving. On the ground Jacob Parker chipped in 361 yards.
Meadow Bridge's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Wildcats feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Cole Porter has thrown for 59 yards this season, while White has two catches for 53 yards. Parker leads the league in rushing with 1256 yards.
A big matchup in Coalfield A this week will be when Midland Trail takes on Montcalm. As it stands, the Patriots are in fourth, while the Generals are in third.
Oak Hill came in at 22 in the state poll after placing at number 32 last week.
