The O'Neal Falcons will head out on the road to take on the Northwood Temple Academy Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: O'Neal has struggled recently with 26 defeats in a row, while Northwood Temple Academy will arrive with three straight victories.
O'Neal suffered their biggest loss since November 14, 2023 on Tuesday. They were beaten by Berean Baptist Academy 72-29.
Meanwhile, even though Terry Sanford scored an imposing 69 points on Saturday, Northwood Temple Academy still came out on top. Northwood Temple Academy breezed by Terry Sanford on the road to the tune of 98-69. Given Northwood Temple Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 166th, while Terry Sanford is ranked 530th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Northwood Temple Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tyler Henderson out in front who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 assists. That's the first time this season that Henderson posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Kenny Vera, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
O'Neal's loss was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-14. As for Northwood Temple Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.
O'Neal was taken down by Northwood Temple Academy 86-36 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point O'Neal was down 59-14.
