It was a good run, but the Meade County Green Waves unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to Breckinridge County 58-52. Meade County was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Breckinridge County apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Paige Harrison and Peyton Bradley certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Harrison scored 13 points along with six rebounds, while Bradley scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Bradley has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last nine times she's played. Annabelle Babb was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds.
Breckinridge County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Elizabeth Grimes, who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Josie Mitcham, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Meade County's loss dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Breckinridge County, they pushed their record up to 15-5 with that win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season.
Meade County will take on Bullitt East at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Breckinridge County, they will head out on the road to take on North Hardin at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. North Hardin will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings (they are ranked 126th, while Breckinridge County is ranked 37th).
