It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but St. John had no problem doing just that on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Georgetown Day Mighty Hoppers as they made off with a 15-0 victory. The Cadets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by eight runs or more this season.
Chloe Armiger made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, St. John's got a massive performance out of Logan Brooks, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits Brooks has posted since back in March. Yasmin Burrell was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
The win made it two in a row for St. John's and bumps their season record up to 13-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Georgetown Day, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.
Coming up, St. John's will square off against National Cathedral at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. Georgetown Day does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
