The Eustis Panthers will take on the Mount Dora Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
It was a proper cat-fight when Eustis duked it out with Tohopekaliga on Tuesday. The Panthers came up short against the Tigers, falling 14-4.
Eustis saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Jackson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Jabriel Rivera Caraballo was another, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Mount Dora lost 7-1 to The Villages Charter on Tuesday. The Hurricanes have struggled against the Buffalo recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Mount Dora also got a good showing from Jack Irwin, who pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. Furthermore, Irwin didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2025.
Eustis' defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Mount Dora, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Eustis has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Mount Dora struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Eustis' way against Mount Dora in their previous meeting on Wednesday, as Eustis made off with a 9-1 victory. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hurricanes turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
