Skyview is a perfect 10-0 against Camas since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Storm will be playing in front of their home fans against the Papermakers at 4:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Skyview has 12 straight victories, Camas has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Tuesday, Skyview made easy work of Union and carried off an 11-1 win. The Storm might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matches by eight runs or more this season.
Maddie Milhorn made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over 4.2 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kayla Lester, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Taylor Lies was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Skyview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .528 or higher in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Camas fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Battle Ground on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 8-7.
Ellie Wittler was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-5 with two runs. Another player making a difference was Jayda Peterson, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI.
Skyview pushed their record up to 16-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Camas, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11.
Camas' hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Skyview has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.1 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Camas, though, as they've been averaging only 3.6 strikeouts. Will Skyview keep running through batters, or will the Papermakers buck the trend?
Everything went Skyview's way against Camas in their previous meeting on Wednesday, as Skyview made off with a 14-0 victory. Do the Storm have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Papermakers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
