5A Region I District 5 recap November 5, 2013
Hebron's Braelen Evans rumbled for the longest rushing play in 5A Region I District 5 this season in his game against Lewisville last week. Evans scampered for 90 yards on the play and finished with 111 on the day as his team defeated the Farmers.
Coppell added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Ryan, 28-3. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Hebron's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Carson Proffitt threw for 62 and 1 touchdown and Jamal Adams had 42 yards receiving. On the ground Treyvon Hughes chipped in 222 yards. Blake Robinson helped Hebron's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 16 yards.
Hughes was a passing and rushing force as Brian Brazil's team defeated Lewisville. Hughes' key target this week was Adams, who caught 3 passes for 42 yards.
Hughes was a force in the backfield as the Hawks bested the Farmers.
Proffitt put up the best numbers through the air as Hebron topped Lewisville.
Hebron's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Hawks feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Proffitt has thrown for 871 yards and 12 touchdowns this season, while Adams has 15 catches for 383 yards.
Two stand out recruits will be in the spotlight when Marcus and the Hawks meet this week. The Marauders features high profile sophomore Kaden Smith while Hebron has Adams, a sought after senior.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Coppell takes on the Farmers. Joe Mcbride's team is currently in first, while Lewisville is in fourth.
The league will see a high scoring game when Marcus and the Hawks face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Bryan Erwin's team comes in having scored 82 this season, while Hebron has scored 265. The Marauders scored 27 points last week as they lost to Flower Mound.
The Jaguars scaled the state rankings by moving to 303 from 393 this week, the biggest jump in 5A Region I District 5. Flower Mound climbed the ranks as a result of topping Marcus 30-27.
