Shanyia Holmes was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Alivia Scott and Arriana Wilson did most of the damage at the plate: Scott got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and one stolen base, while Wilson got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and one triple. That's the most runs Wilson has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Brookyln Schimek, who got on base in both of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
The victory made it two in a row for Rickards and bumps their season record up to 8-9. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-12 Jefferson County and 4-12 Hamilton County. As for Jefferson County, their loss was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-12.
Rickards has already played their next game, a 9-0 defeat against Taylor County on the 16th. As for Jefferson County, they will square off against Hamilton County at 6:00 p.m. on the 23rd. The Tigers are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
