Becker proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 14) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over the Big Lake Hornets. The win was nothing new for the Bulldogs as they're now sitting on three straight.
Hunter Pietrowski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, Jack Fischer was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season. Another player making a difference was Isaac Guck, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Becker's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Big Lake, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Becker will square off against Milaca at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Big Lake, they will face off against Chisago Lakes Area at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
