Potter-Dix has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Garden County Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Potter-Dix comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Potter-Dix suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They were dealt a 73-19 defeat at the hands of Leyton. While losing is never fun, Potter-Dix can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 238th, while Leyton is ranked 40th).
Despite the defeat, Potter-Dix got a solid performance out of Madison Williamson, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Garden County scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Minatare with a sharp 47-24 victory. The win made it back-to-back wins for Garden County.
Garden County found their leader in underclassman Ridglyn Stanczyk, who scored six points along with five assists and five steals. Another player making a difference was Kirstyn Beberniss, who scored seven points along with four steals.
Potter-Dix bumped their record down to 3-9 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.3 points per game. As for Garden County, their win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-7.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Potter-Dix have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 26.2 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Garden County, though, as they've been averaging only 31.1 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Potter-Dix lost to Garden County on the road by a decisive 48-31 margin when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Potter-Dix, McKenna Krueger (who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
