Basketball Game Preview: Whitehall Vikings vs. Mona Shores Sailors

The Whitehall Vikings will challenge the Mona Shores Sailors at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Whitehall's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight contests.

Whitehall is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Montague: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Whitehall blew Montague out of the water with a 72-28 final score. The Vikings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 23 points or more this season.

Camden Thompson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 14 rebounds. The contest was his 21st in a row with at least ten points. Corde Anderson was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to seven boards and four steals.

Whitehall smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, Mona Shores beat Caledonia 53-41 on Friday. Given the Sailors' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 134th, while the Fighting Scots are ranked 295th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Whitehall's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points per game. As for Mona Shores, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-7 record this season.

Whitehall won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, slipping by Mona Shores 59-58. Does Whitehall have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mona Shores turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
