The Woodville-Tompkins Wolverines suffered their biggest defeat since December 5, 2023 on Tuesday. They suffered a rough 50-25 defeat at the hands of Bryan County. While losing is never fun, Woodville-Tompkins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 266th, while Bryan County is ranked 85th).
When it comes to explaining why Woodville-Tompkins lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brianna Pelote. Despite the final result, she scored four points along with 11 rebounds and four blocks. Pelote hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Danica Edwards, who scored four points along with six rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Woodville-Tompkins and nudges their season record down to 8-10. As for Bryan County, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Woodville-Tompkins on the road again on Friday and play against Savannah at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. As for Bryan County, they will square off against Metter at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Metter is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
