Baseball Recap: Manteo Snags Sixth Victory in Last Seven Games

Manteo won the last time they faced Hertford County and things went their way on Thursday too. The Redskins blew past the Bears 16-2. The result was nothing new for the Redskins, who have now won 11 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Manteo got a massive performance out of Tanner Sawyer, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave Sawyer a new career-high. Landon Saywer was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Manteo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .533 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Manteo is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Hertford County, their defeat was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-17.

Manteo will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Camden County at 7:00 p.m. on the 29th. As for Hertford County, they will head out to square off against Currituck County at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bears will need to watch out since the Knights have now posted at least ten runs in their last six matches.
