Gooding has gone 8-2 against Filer recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Senators will take on the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. Filer took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Gooding, who comes in off a win.
Gooding barely beat Declo the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Senators blew past the Hornets 8-1 on Monday. The Senators have beaten the Hornets the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Hornets has come to flipping the script.
Eli Esterbrook and Evan Mendoza were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Esterbrook struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Mendoza kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Gooding is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-7 otherwise. At the plate, Esterbrook went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Mendoza went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Cougar Stockham was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Gooding is undefeated when Stockham posts two or more runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Cason Page, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Gooding was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Declo only posted a batting average of .167.
Meanwhile, Filer was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They lost 21-11 to Kimberly. That's two games in a row now that the Wildcats have lost by exactly ten runs.
Bridger Phillips was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Brett Paxton made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Aydyn Burns, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Filer's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Gooding, the win got them back to even at 8-8.
Gooding came out on top in a nail-biter against Filer when the teams last played two weeks ago, sneaking past 6-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Senators since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
