The Seymour Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 58-57 to Northview Academy. While losing is never fun, Seymour can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 382nd, while the Cougars are ranked 134th).
Despite the loss, Seymour still got an impressive performance from Cameron Soulages, who scored 31 points along with two steals. That was a full 54.4% of Seymour's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Balyn Wolfe was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Seymour has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-20 record this season. As for Northview Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Seymour will face off against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Pigeon Forge is on a four-game streak of home losses, the Eagles a five-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. As for Northview Academy, they will head out on the road to take on the Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
