The West Jordan Jaguars came tearing into Friday's game with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Hunter by a score of 68-59. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead West Jordan to victory, but perhaps none more so than Colton Blackham, who scored 24 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Blackham is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Steven Cox, who scored 17 points.
Despite the loss, Hunter still got an impressive performance from Keaton Miller, who scored 19 points along with two steals. It was the first time this season that Miller scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Tracen Sorensen, who scored nine points.
West Jordan pushed their record up to 10-10 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Hunter, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.
West Jordan will square off against Granger at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Granger will be up against West Jordan's rather soft defense (which has allowed 56.4 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive showing. As for Hunter, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Taylorsville at 7:00 p.m. Hunter is facing Taylorsville at the right time seeing as Taylorsville is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
