After five games on the road, Skyline is heading back home. They will take on the Decatur Heritage Christian Academy Eagles at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Skyline has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matches by 25 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 73-19 victory over Valley Head on the road. Given Skyline's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while Valley Head is ranked 267th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Decatur Heritage Christian Academy put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Ider by a score of 64-51.
Decatur Heritage Christian Academy can attribute much of their success to Leslie Hames, who scored 24 points, and Genie Mcghee, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Hames has scored at least 25% of Decatur Heritage Christian Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Katelyn Cooper, who scored 11 points along with 6 rebounds.
Skyline has yet to lose a contest on the road this season, leaving them with a 5-0 record. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points per game. As for Decatur Heritage Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 9-0.
Skyline strolled past Decatur Heritage Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2022 by a score of 52-34. Will Skyline repeat their success, or does Decatur Heritage Christian Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
