The Avoyelles Mustangs lost against the Rapides Mustangs back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Avoyelles was outmatched by Rapides on the road and fell 65-35. Avoyelles has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Christopher Newton was his usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with nine rebounds for Rapides. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaydan Wilson, who scored 15 points.
Avoyelles has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season. As for Rapides, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-7.
Avoyelles will take on Bunkie at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. As for Rapides, they will head out on the road to face off against Holy Savior Menard at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
