After two games on the road, String Theory is heading back home. They will take on the Roxborough Wolves at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Thursday, String Theory came up short against the Patriots and fell 55-45.
Despite their defeat, String Theory saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jason Pezzetti, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds and three steals, was perhaps the best of all. Pezzetti is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last 13 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dawud Jones, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Roxborough unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 64-57 to Germantown Friends. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Stefan Phillips put forth a good effort for the losing side as he dropped a double-double on 31 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Sahir Smith was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
String Theory's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Roxborough, their loss dropped their record down to 16-5.
Thursday's matchup is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: String Theory have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 37% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Roxborough struggles in that department as they've made 38.7% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
String Theory was able to grind out a solid victory over the Wolves in their previous matchup back in January of 2022, winning 62-52. Will String Theory repeat their success, or do the Wolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
